Slice of Gulfport is a family-owned pizzeria in Gulfport, Florida, established in 2022 by owner John McLachlan. The goal of the project was to build a single-page website that could serve as both a digital storefront and a conversion tool — turning curious visitors into paying customers as quickly as possible.
The primary design challenge was clarity. A local restaurant’s website has one job: get people to order from the menu. I structured the page with a strong above-the-fold call to action — a prominent phone number and “Call for Pickup” button — so that even the least tech-savvy user could convert in seconds. Delivery integrations with Uber Eats and DoorDash were surfaced immediately below, ensuring no customer was left without an option.
From there, the page was architected to build trust and appetite. I featured the brand’s “Best Pizza in Gulfport” editorial win from The Gabber newspaper, giving new visitors an immediate social proof signal. The menu section was designed to be comprehensive yet digestible — organized by category (specialty pizzas, extras, subs, pasta) with food photography to drive visual appeal. Pricing transparency was a deliberate choice; local diners want to know what they’re getting before they call.
The storytelling section — “Our Story” — was kept concise and warm, reinforcing the family-owned, community-first identity that differentiates Slice of Gulfport from chain competitors. Location and hours were given their own clear sections, optimized for the practical needs of mobile users searching on the go.
The result is a lean, functional site that communicates personality, builds credibility, and drives action — exactly what a neighborhood restaurant needs to compete and grow.
