For the redesign of the Government Supply Services website (governmentsupplyservices.com), I focused on creating a user-centric eCommerce platform that effectively supports an extensive B2B product catalog while highlighting the company’s core strengths as a service-disabled veteran-owned supplier.

The primary goal of the project was to build a informational site that linked to their existing eCommerce platform. This resulted in an intuitive online storefront that makes it easy for commercial and government buyers to discover products across multiple categories such as office supplies, janitorial & sanitation goods, industrial maintenance products, and safety equipment. I started by conducting stakeholder interviews to understand Government Supply Services’ customers and their expectations when sourcing critical facility supplies online. From this research, I defined core user journeys, including browse-to-buy paths, account registration, and product search flows.

The homepage was designed to immediately communicate the company’s value proposition: a centralized procurement platform with over one million products and next-day delivery across much of the U.S. I used clear category blocks (“Office Supplies,” “Industrial, MRO & Safety,” etc.) to help users quickly navigate to key product areas. Consistent calls-to-action like “Shop Now” and “Register Now” were strategically placed to drive conversions.

From a visual perspective, I employed a clean, professional layout with ample white space and high-quality imagery to enhance readability and showcase product offerings without overwhelming the user. The responsive design ensures seamless browsing on both desktop and mobile devices.

Finally, I integrated customer testimonials directly on the homepage to build trust and reflect real user experiences, reinforcing the company’s reputation for exceptional service.

Overall, the new Government Supply Services site balances robust eCommerce functionality with clear messaging, helping both new and returning customers find and purchase the products they need with confidence.
